Hiring interview for Google and me

Google commented about the facts around hiring after analyzing the big data of the employees.

Inc.: 5 Surprising Facts About How Google Hires

The New York Times: In Head-Hunting, Big Data May Not Be Such a Big Deal

Some interesting findings were introduced in this interview.
It is surprising that brainteaser is not useful for evaluation of the candidates at all. Google is famous as asking some odd question such as the Fermi estimate in a hiring interview. Some manuals are sold to break through the examination. If it is a waste of time, what did the candidates struggle for?

On the other hand, the fact that no one was deemed as a good at hiring has relieved me, for I also have some experience of hiring a person. Choosing one person from some candidates is a very stressful task. I am always afraid that the chosen one would make some trouble in the organization. If Google, with the data of thousands of hiring case, has no strategy of preferable hiring, I do not need to be blamed at all. Actually, I have read some books about hiring interview, to get no valuable information to evaluate the candidates precisely.

After all, hiring is an investment. No one can be a perfect investor. Unlikely to usual investment, however, we can grow up the person we chose as a colleague on our own responsibility.
